GENERAL FLOORCRAFT FLOOR MACHINES

General Floorcraft, Inc. was founded in 1930 by the Sassano family and was among the very earliest to produce rotary cleaning machines. The company was located in an industrial district of New York City. During World War II, General converted its machine shop and production equipment to produce bombsites for the war effort. After World War II, General went back to its primary purpose of manufacturing floor care equipment.  In the early 50's, they designed and built a small, durable twin brush machine that was intended for consumers. After several years, they sold the rights to Regina, who continued to make the same machine for many years.

General has been the pioneer in creating floor care equipment and was the first to build a variable speed machine in the 1950's. General had an impressive strategic growth and in 1960 moved to the Bronx, NY under the management of the Sassano family.

In 1986, the Gore family, now Barry and Jeff, acquired General and in 1992 they moved to their present site in Paterson, NJ. General Floorcraft is the leading private label manufacturer of floor care equipment and its growth continues. In 1996, General Floorcraft acquired Cleancare carpet cleaning systems from Avmor in Canada and moved it to Paterson. This acquisition essentially made General Floorcraft a full-line manufacturer with worldwide distribution.
